Last Friday, February 11, six Ecuadorian students were surprised by the fire that broke out in the building where they lived in the neighborhood of Belgrano, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Angie, Denisse, Gaby, Jordy, Henry and Josué only managed to remove a few personal items and evacuate the building on time. None of them suffered burns or smoke inhalation problems, but the rest of their belongings were consumed by the fire.
The fire started in one of the apartments on the first floor of the building, located on Cuba Street, between Monroe and Roosevelt, a busy area of the city. The difficulty of entering the area of the fire through armored doors made it difficult for the firefighters to suffocate. The flames rose several countries until they reached the department of the Ecuadorians. The reason for the scourge is still unknown and is under investigation, according to local media reports.
This February 21, the Ecuadorian community residing in Buenos Aires organized a Solidarity Encebollado to deliver the proceeds to young people. Donations such as clothing and other items were also collected that day.
