Ukrainian citizen, residing in Ecuador, asks to protest against the war

Elena Yurchevkov Petrina is a Ukrainian citizen who lives in Quito, after having a romantic relationship with the Ecuadorian Henry Rodríguez. Her family life, however, changed a week ago, after Russia and Ukraine started a new war.

Today she carries the flag of her country on her shoulders and attends sit-ins at the chancery or at the Carondelet Palace, to ask for peace in her country. Petrina points out that she is in constant communication with her parents, to find out how they are.

“We support our president, our warriors, our Ukrainian nation,” she says. And then she adds that all her relatives want Russia to leave her territory, so that this war ends.

The Ukrainian citizen says that she, and her compatriots around the world, are giving a message to the citizens of Russia, so that they also come out to protest against this war.

“We want to say that a war is going on in Ukraine, they are throwing bullets, a lot of artillery. And please come out against this problem that is happening in Ukraine. Citizens of Russia please support us. Without them we won’t be able to win.”

In the last hours, demonstrations were registered in different cities of Russia. Dozens of citizens have gathered to ask for an end to the armed conflict and a return to dialogue.
