President of Ecuadorians in Ukraine denounces that the Ecuadorian authorities do not give them answers

Diana Vallejo, representative of Ecuadorians in Ukraine, spoke about the crisis that has intensified in recent hours in that country and claimed that the Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not effectively coordinated actions to facilitate the departure of resident citizens. in Ukraine.

Vallejo revealed that in the last two weeks they were alerted that they had to leave Ukraine due to the conflicts, for which they requested a humanitarian flight. However, they did not receive a response from the Ecuadorian authorities. Likewise, she stressed that there is no emergency plan by the Ecuadorian government.

She mentioned that they have had conversations with Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Holguín and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who have informed them about the safe points to go to, but they have not received any other type of help.

“If this had been organized before, we would have had an early exit,” Vallejo stressed, in statements to TVC.

Holguín’s most recent response, until the morning hours, was a statement through Twitter, in which he reported that they are in continuous communication with their compatriots, in order to provide them with options for internal and external transfers.

The Secretary of State explained that there are 700 Ecuadorians in at least 19 cities in Ukraine.

Regarding the situation in the last few hours, Vallejo commented that citizens in Ukraine are worried and are trying to leave the country; while there is a shortage of food in supermarkets.
