Dom Rep reports 253 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths

 (Prensa Latina) Dominican Republic on Thursday reported 253 new Covid-19 cases, totaling 570,889 contagions since the pandemic broke out in the country, health authorities stated.

On Wednesday, three people died of Covid-19 due to complication related to the disease, so the death toll rose to 4,354.

According to the report, 2,365 people are active cases, the number of recovered patients is 564,170 and 2,491,320 people have tested negative.

Health authorities highlighted Thursday’s results after the President of the Dominican Republic on Wednesday lifted all restrictions imposed by Covid-19 in the country and left the care of the disease to individual responsibility.

Addressing the whole nation, the head of State explained that “measures such as wearing face masks, presenting the vaccination card to access places, or restrictions in public spaces are currently the responsibility by each of us.”
