Honduran Congress meets prior to presidential swearing-in ceremony

(Prensa Latina) The National Congress of Honduras, presided over by Congressman Luis Redondo, held a session prior to the swearing-in ceremony of President-elected Xiomara Castro, the first woman to occupy that position in Honduras.

During the parliamentary meeting, the resignations of Enrique Reina, from the Electoral Justice Tribunal (TJE), and Attorney Rixi Moncada as a magistrate of the National Electoral Council (CNE), who will assume the position of foreign minister and secretary of Finance, respectively, were announced.

On his Twitter account, Reina described as a high honor his responsibility in the TJE, a position from which he contributed to the strengthening of democracy in the country and the development of electoral processes with greater guarantees of confidence for the Honduran people.

The lawmaker from the Libertad y Refundacion (Libre) Party, Ramon Barrios, assured that the agreement for the solution of the political crisis generated after the swearing in of two boards of directors in the Congress is 80 percent advanced, and announced the disclosure of the pact on January 27.
