Cyber attacks on global companies increased by 31 percent in 2021

(Prensa Latina) Global companies received an average of 270 cyber attacks in 2021, 31 percent more than in 2020, causing damages worth 3.6 million dollars, a World Economic Forum report noted on Tuesday.

The report, presented at this virtual forum, estimates that ransomware attacks increased by 151 percent, but a study presented by this organization last week claimed that the year-on-year rise exceeded 400 percent.

The research on cyber security presented in the so-called Davos Forum claims that the public image of large tech companies was damaged and, as a measure, they lost 3 percent of the value of their shares.

Moreover, according to 80 percent of the surveyed leaders of the tech sector, the ransomware became a real threat to public security, the publication further reports.

A situation for which companies show little preparedness, which companies take an average of 280 days to identify, fully contain and respond to.

The Forum has been a platform for informal talks for political and business leaders from across the globe since the 1970s.

On Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping warned of the catastrophic consequences of certain confrontation policies if other powers keep their Cold War mentality.
