The Institute of Studies for Development and Peace, Indepaz, denounces the sixth massacre in Colombia in 2022 that left 3 people dead in the municipality of Miranda, northern Cauca. One of those killed was a social leader.
The director of the Indepaz observatory, Leonardo González, says that this act constitutes a massacre because the victims were defenseless and because it would be the same criminal author.
In the events, three young people (two men and one woman) were killed with a firearm.
One of the crimes was recorded in Las Gradas de la plaza, where some armed men shot at a group of people, leaving two of them dead.
The other violent act was recorded on the road that leads from Miranda to the municipality of Corinto, Cauca, a sector known as Guatemala, where the body of a lifeless man with gunshot wounds was found.
All the victims were homeless, one of them was identified as Néstor Andrés Gutiérrez, 21 years old.
González asserted that “the deaths would be due to a misnamed ‘social cleansing’ by a criminal group.”
He also stated that the mobile column Dagoberto Ramos, the southwestern front Andrey Peñaranda and the ELN are present in the area.
