On the night of this January 12, 2022, the director of the Guayas Center for the Deprivation of Liberty No. 2 suffered an attack while she was moving to her home. The National Service for Comprehensive Attention to Persons Deprived of Liberty (SNAI) confirmed the fact.
The institution reported that, as a result of the attack, the driver was injured, but is stable and was treated by medical personnel. “We carry out the accompaniment to the official who is in good custody managing the complaint,” published the SNAI.
More details are still unknown in this regard, but the attack occurs after violent incidents were recorded among the inmates of this center in the former Litoral penitentiary. The SNAI indicated that the Police managed to control the altercations.
Once again, the prison situation worsens in the country, after 2021 with more than 320 inmates killed in three massacres in the country’s prisons.
