On March 11, in Santiago, Chile, the change of command ceremony will be held, in which Gabriel Boric will assume as President of this nation. The Ecuadorian President, Guillermo Lasso, confirmed that he will attend this event.
Lasso and Boric had a telephone conversation on December 23, 2021, in which they talked about trade and Ecuador’s interest in joining the Pacific Alliance, among other topics, according to El Universo.
“I just spoke with the elected president of Chile, Mr. Gabriel Boric. After congratulating him on his electoral success, I wished him the best in the exercise of power for the benefit of the Chilean people. We have talked about trade and the interest of Ecuador to be part of the Pacific Alliance ”, said the Ecuadorian President.
In addition, he reported that Boric “has shown his support to deepen trade between Chile and Ecuador.”
On December 19, the presidential elections were held in Chile. After the polls closed and with 46,759 polls counted out of a total of 46,887, corresponding to 99.72%, Boric obtained 55.86% of the vote, becoming the new president of Chile, the youngest in history of this nation.
On his side, the right-wing Kast has obtained 44.14% of the vote, with more than three million voters voting for him.
