In 2021 there have been multiple prison massacres, which have left a balance of around 300 inmates murdered, burned and beheaded, in addition, dozens of injured, but, so far there are no identified perpetrators for these riots .
In a discussion with the media, the President of Ecuador assured that there are no perpetrators or prosecutors for the prison massacres that have occurred in recent months and this would be because there is no prison intelligence system that allows identifying the material perpetrators and intellectual.
“One of the weaknesses of the prison system is that there has been no prison intelligence, information that allows us to know why the killings occurred and the physical, material and intellectual perpetrators.”
Given this, he indicated that the Penitentiary Intelligence System is just being created in the SNAI and that will allow the identification of threats to avoid new massacres.
On the other hand, he insisted that the “narco generals” who were denounced by the US ambassador to Ecuador, Michael Fitzpatrick, are not generals in active service, but passive.
