Spanish government to approve new aid package for La Palma

(Prensa Latina) The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced today that the Council of Ministers this Friday will approve a new package of measures for the island of La Palma.

From Brussels, where he is attending meetings of the European Council, Sanchez released the information directly related to the hopes for the definitive cessation of the eruptions of the Cumbre Vieja volcano.

“Spain’s solidarity is turned to La Palma and, therefore, tomorrow we are going to approve a new package of measures for the reconstruction and the relunching of the island’s economy”, highlighted the Chief of the Executive.

He pointed out that the aid for housing will be doubled, raising the limit from 30,000 to 60,000 euros each. Besides, these are complementary aids to the compensations coming from the Consortium of Insurance Compensation and from other territorial administrations.

According to the Palacio de la Moncloa, the President praised the aid mechanism which will allow the citizens to receive them in advance, so that La Palma can count on these funds as soon as possible.

Likewise, he advanced that the new package will emphasize the recovery and relaunching of the economy and tourism in the so-called Canary Pretty Island.

Specifically, the Government will approve an investment of 17.5 million Euros in support of small and medium-sized enterprises; and for the island’s tourist recovery.
