Mexico with more than 81 million people vaccinated against Covid-19

(Prensa Latina) Mexico has vaccinated so far 81,767,000 people with at least one dose against Covid 19, from an overall population of 127 million inhabitants, showing it still has a long way to go to fully complete the program.

However, an updated report from the Ministry of Health indicates that since the beginning of the national vaccination strategy, on December 24, 2020 until this Thursday, immunization has served the purpose of lowering the rates of the disease, which became very high in the country.

A total of 66,459,570 people have completed the vaccination plan. Adults over 60 years of age are currently receiving the booster dose as almost all of them have already been immunized for more than six months.

Meanwhile, 15,310,824 inhabitants have a dose while waiting for the period required to get the second to be met. In total, 138,851,637 shots have been applied in the 32 states, which makes Mexico one of the countries having acquired more vaccines in the world.

Regarding the current situation of the pandemic, 17,964 estimated active cases were identified, equivalent to 0.4 percent since the beginning of the pandemic. Meanwhile, in the previous epidemiological week the number of estimated cases registered a decrease of one percent.

In the last 24 hours, the occupancy of general beds and those with a ventilator did not register changes as they remained at 15 and 12 percent, respectively.

The Ministry of Health reiterates the importance of reinforcing basic prevention measures: healthy distance, frequent hand washing with soap and water or application of 70 percent alcohol gel, as well as correct use of face masks, ventilation in closed spaces and maintaining precautions in public.
