Citizens demand freedom for the former vice president of Ecuador

This Tuesday, December 14, 2021, it is one year since former Vice President Jorge Glas served 40% of the custodial sentence imposed against him through two enforceable sentences, of 6 years and 8 years, respectively.

In social networks, the hashtag #LibertadParaJorge has been viralized, with which users among assembly members, former ministers, officials and other citizens demand that the Ecuadorian justice grant the semi-open regime for the former vice president.

The publications recall that the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) granted precautionary measures a year ago in favor of Glas, the application of which was monitored by a commission of the international organization, which arrived in the country on December 2, 2021.

In this regard, the president of the Citizen Revolution Movement, Marcela Aguiñaga, in an interview for Radio Pichincha, stated that the judicial system must comply with the legal norm on the case of the former vice president, Jorge Glas; She clarified that there can be no agreements on the life and integrity of a person and added that Glas’ pre-freedom is a right to which the former vice president has.
