(Prensa Latina) Press media highlighted this Sunday Panama’s willingness to promote regional cooperation for the sake of economic revival, hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
La Estrella de Panama and La Prensa newspapers summarize one of the main agreements signed by President Laurentino Cortizo, who returned from a summit meeting in the Dominican Republic with his counterparts, host Luis Abinader and Costa Rica’s Carlos Alvarado.
Cortizo attended the II Meeting of the so-called Alliance for Development in Democracy (ADD), which concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
Among its purposes, this document highlights joint projects of the respective trade ministries to attract new investments that favor the revival of their economies.
The President, also accompanied by the Minister of Commerce and Industries, Ramon Martinez, among other officials, attended the signing of the document, which also promotes exchanges with multilateral financial agencies.
The text also highlights the creation of a Business Council and the decision to identify and promote innovative financing mechanisms.
The presidents also pledged to “collaborate in identifing areas of development priorities, particularly in relation to climate change, food security, education, human talent management and science, technology and innovation”.
