Moscow, Nov 18 (Prensa Latina) The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, warned today that Covid-19 is far from being defeated, there are risks of propagation of new waves of infections and it will be impossible to isolate itself in a single country.
Speaking in person at an enlarged meeting of the Foreign Ministry College, the President pointed out that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which caused the pandemic, has seriously disrupted the normal course of life all over the world.
In this regard, he stressed Russia’s call to other countries to establish real, “equal and fair” cooperation in the fight against the disease. He said that “without that, it is impossible to defeat the virus,” according to the official Kremlin website.
He noted that at the G-20 summit in Rome in October, he proposed to assess as soon as possible the issue of mutual recognition of national vaccine certificates.
“I urged the members to act quickly, because it is necessary to resume global trade, tourism and, in general, to return to normal,” the head of state said.
In this regard, he said that the work of the World Health Organization requires all possible support and said that it could focus even more on mass immunization.
“In particular, to accelerate the procedures to requalify new vaccines and drugs; that is, to evaluate their quality, safety and efficacy,” the president said.
