The government of Ecuador held a meeting with the Latin American Financial Action Group this Wednesday, November 17.
The reserved meeting took place in the Carondelet Palace, in which the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, the Minister of Economy, Simón Cueva, the Minister of Government, Alexandra Vela and the Director General of the UAFE, Carla Mera Proaño participated. .
Also present at the meeting were the attorney general Diana Salazar and the president of the Council of the Judiciary, María del Carmen Maldonado.
After the dialogue, the Minister of Finance explained that the visit of the representatives of this organization is part of an evaluation process regarding the prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism.
Among other issues, the authorities discussed the prevention of corruption, as part of Gafolat’s evaluation of the country.
“We are pleased to have international technical assistance, to evaluate the country in a transparent way to both the public and private sectors,” he said.
