UN envoy calls for dialogue to end conflict in Yemen

Upon visiting the southwestern governorate of Taiz, the Swedish diplomat urged to work for an inclusive political agreement, according to Saba news agency.

During my road trip to Taiz, I saw the suffering of the people, lack of transportation, basic services and difficulties in obtaining goods,” he said.

According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, approximately 20 million people, two-thirds of Yemen’s population, need humanitarian assistance and 80 percent live below the poverty level.

After years of conflagration, Yemen remains the world’s fourth largest internally displaced population, with an estimated four million people, the agency recently stressed.
