Mexican legislators approve complicated income provisions

Mexico City, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) After three days of heated debate, Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies today approved the complicated Fiscal Miscellaneous for 2022.
This is the name given to a tax collection provision issued annually by the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit with the purpose of reforming tax laws.

After debating the issue for three days, to the point of shoving, the parties gave in to their positions and reached a rapprochement to unblock the vote.

The ruling Morena party had no alternative but to lower to a minimum the profile of its most controversial proposals, among them, that of registering young people in the Federal Taxpayers’ Registry and that accountants should not be forced to investigate the perpetration of possible tax crimes.

A total of more than 500 reservations were presented by the opposition parties to the proposals of the ruling party, which should lead to the approval of the income and budget law.

Among the agreements reached is the Special Tax on Production and Services for Fuels, which will remain as it is, without any increase, so that energy prices will not increase above inflation.
