Paris, Sep 30 (Prensa Latina) A Paris court sentenced former President of France Nicolas Sarkozy to one year in prison for illegally financing his campaign in 2012.
The court ruled on the so-called Bygmalion case, in which the expenses of the ex-president’s presidential campaign (2007-2012) in search of his re-election would have almost doubled the legal limit.
Sarkozy will have to serve a year in prison wearing an electronic bracelet, the second sentence of the former right-wing leader.
In March, the former head of state became the first of his kind to be sentenced by a court, with a sentence of three years in prison, one of them with confinement, for the matter of ‘wiretapping’, in which he was accused of corruption and influence peddling.
