President of Ecuador will meet with Joe Biden’s advisor to discuss security issues

The President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, will meet with Daleep Singh, deputy national security adviser to the US President Joe Biden, this Tuesday, September 28. The objective of this meeting is to start with a great infrastructure plan with which the United States wants to counteract the advance of bilateral relations between several countries in the region with China.

Singh will tour several Latin American countries. This Sunday he arrived in Colombia and today he will meet with the President of this country, Iván Duque. Tomorrow he will arrive in Ecuador to meet with Guillermo Lasso and his Cabinet. Finally, Biden’s advisor will visit Panama on Wednesday and Thursday, where he will meet several ministers, authorities in charge of the Panama Canal and businessmen.

The chancellor of the Republic, Mauricio Montalvo; the Minister of the Environment, Gustavo Manrique; of Public Health, Ximena Garzón; of Telecommunications, Vianna Maino; of Energy, Juan Carlos Bermeo; and the National Secretary of Planning, Jairon Merchán.

According to Singh’s agenda, the reason for his visit will be to see how the United States “help them solve their problems” in terms of their investment needs in infrastructure, and what has been their “experience” in investment agreements with other countries , like China. “It is not about exerting pressure, but about offering a better product” than China, the official stressed.
