Number of new Covid-19 hospitalizations in Moscow decreased

(Prensa Latina) Moscow’s mayor Sergey Sobyanin on Friday informed that new Covid-19 hospitalizations in the capital during the first half of August have decreased more than half compared to the same period in June.

‘Thanks to mass vaccination and other preventive measures, the pandemic continues to recede,’ the Russian politician wrote on his blog.

Sobyanin explained that the mass immunization process continues in this capital and the number of Moscow residents who received the first component of the vaccine surpassed 4.5 million people this week.

Moscow records the highest numbers of contagions, totaling 1,537,888 cases since the Covid-19 pandemic was detected in the country.

Of that figure, 2,529 coronavirus cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

While in general, 1,404,879 patients have recovered from the virus and 26,482 people died due to complications related to the disease.
