Dengue contagion increased in Ecuador

200 children admitted to the Hospital for cases of classic dengue in Guayaquil. The children suffered vomiting, skin rashes, pain in the head, bleeding and abdomen, and high fevers.

The Francisco de Icaza Bustamante Hospital houses multiple cases, such as that of Shirley Morales’ granddaughter, from the Quinsaloma canton, Los Ríos province, who had to be admitted due to severe symptoms of the disease.

On the other hand, the epidemiologist of the hospital, Boris Caballero, specified that all these cases arrived since January. In addition, the scientist recommended that parents not medicate their children if they have symptoms of this disease, the prescription of a specialist.

Dengue symptoms are high fever, rash, muscle and joint pain. In the most severe cases, hemorrhage and shock can occur, which can lead to death.
