Most Brazilians support removal of Bolsonaro

(Prensa Latina) Some 58 percent of Brazilians supports the removal of President Jair Bolsonaro from power, a poll by PoderData, the investigation division of the Poder360 news website revealed on Thursday.

Carried out August 16 through 18, the poll indicated that this figure is an increase of 8 percentage points compared to the previous poll conducted in late July.

The number of people who think he should remain in office dropped by 13 percentage points in the same period as it went from 45 to 32 percent.

The analysis was based on 2,500 interviews in 433 municipalities of the 27 states of the federation.

This demand was intended to group the arguments in 122 impeachment demands against the former captain of the army, accused of 23 crimes.

Some of the offenses committed by Bolsonaro cited in the text are: incite soldiers to not abide by the law; incite a coup d’état, seeking the closure of the Supreme Court and the National Congress; and the apologia of torture.

It also mentions the fostering of public indignation against social isolation, the lack of a plan to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, which has killed more than 570,000 people and resulted in 20 million sick people; and lies to win political advantages.
