Pilot vaccination plan against Covid-19 for prisoners of liberty begins in Ecuador

This Tuesday, August 17, 2021, the pilot vaccination plan against Covid-19 began for people deprived of liberty from the different Social Rehabilitation Centers in the country.

This was announced by the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, in a conversation with the media in which she also detailed that the inoculation began at 08:00 in the Litoral Penitentiary, in coordination with the Ministry of Government, the National Police and the Armed Forces.

Those deprived of liberty will receive the Chinese CanSino vaccine, which requires a single dose to immunize against the coronavirus.

Garzón added that the inoculation to this sector will be progressive and it is expected to vaccinate 3,000 people per day with this type of drug.

“It has been a specific vaccination plan for PPl, which has been coordinated and well organized,” she said.
