(Prensa Latina) Minister for Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani on Thursday urged to avoid falling in temptation to rebuild economies based on the model prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the G20 Ministerial meeting on Environment, Energy and Climate, which will run until July 24 in Naples, Cingolani pointed out that Covid-19 provided the possibility of imagining new and better ways of organizing society.
This new approach calls for robust economies that, nevertheless, operate across environmental and social boundaries, he noted.
In that sense, he called to seek solutions based on nature to face climate change, the loss of biodiversity and poverty, the sustainable and circular use of resources, the education and training of young people, as well as financial sustainability.
The meeting convened by Italy as the current president of the G20 will focus on climate change, the acceleration of the ecological transition and the necessary actions to adjust financial flows to the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
