In Ecuador, children over 12 years of age with aggravating diseases may be vaccinated against the coronavirus from this Wednesday, July 21, said the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón.
The minister reported that from day 101; that is, after 9 million people are vaccinated in 100 days of government, the immunization of boys and girls 12 years of age and older will begin.
Garzón assured that infants will be inoculated with the doses of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, due to scientific recommendations. However, she said, they are open to new evidence certifying the use of other types of vaccines in children older than 12 years.
According to the Ministry of Health, there are 15 types of aggravating diseases among which are:
Obesity
Chronic cardiovascular disease
Moderate or severe chronic respiratory disease
Type 1 and 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Chronic kidney disease
Chronic liver disease
HIV
Immunosuppressed people
Sickle cell disease or thalassemia
Solid Organ or Blood Stem Cell Transplantation
Chronic neurological disease
Down’s Syndrome
Oncological and oncohematological patients
Active tuberculosis
People with disabilities
