Alexandra Vela will be inaugurated as the new Minister of Government, at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, after the departure of César Monge, due to an apparent deterioration in his health.
The information was confirmed with the call to the media to cover the possession of Vela, which will be in the Carondelet Palace.
The new minister was Chief of Staff in the government of former President Jaime Roldós. In this administration, she also served as vice minister of the Presidency, constituent assembly member, Andean deputy and vice president of the Latin American Parliament.
Likewise, she was a deputy for Pichincha, for the Popular Democracy bench and currently teaches classes at the Universidad De Las Américas.
The lawyer and graduate in Social and Political Sciences will assume the position, after the departure of Monge, due to apparent health issues related to cancer, who days ago was awarded the National Order of Merit in the Degree of Grand Cross, by the President Lasso.
