Palestine calls on the UN to stop Israeli crimes

(Prensa Latina) The Palestinian government demanded the international community and the UN Security Council to stop violations and crimes committed by Israel in the occupied territories, according to Wafa news agency.

The news agency reproduced a letter from the permanent representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, who highlighted the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem due to Tel Aviv’s actions.

The letter was sent to the UN Secretary General, to the presidency of the Security Council, which this month is held by France, and to the head of the UN General Assembly.

Mansour denounced Israel’s aggressive escalation, which includes systematic violations of human rights, violent and racist attacks by its security forces and extremist settlers against the Palestinian civilian population.

Referring to the Gaza Strip, the diplomat warned of the serious humanitarian crisis underway following the aggression in May, which caused more than 250 deaths.

Precisely, the UN humanitarian coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territories, Lynn Hastings, demanded the day before that Israel end the blockade of the enclave, where more than two million people live.

If we cannot get regular goods into the area, the ability of the UN and its partners to carry out critical interventions is in danger, as well as livelihoods and basic services for the population, she stressed.
