(Prensa Latina) Plateau state, in central Nigeria, reported 953 cholera cases, 14 deaths, and discharged 910 patients with that disease, von.gov.ng informed on Thursday.
Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nimkong Lar, disclosed the figures after a government meeting.
In statements to the press, the official said that the disease, which was previously recorded in Jos North Local Government, has spread to 13 other areas, requiring concerted efforts to address.
According to Lar, Jos North has the highest number of cholera with 484 cases, while Jos South and Bassa Local Governments follow with 307 and 57 cases, respectively.
The commissioner notified that to face the cholera outbreaks, more than 100,154 doses of vaccine were administered in the state out of 105,600 doses given by the federal Government, and 5,000 were returned due to their expiry date.
