(Prensa Latina) Current President of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Gaston Browne, convened the presidents of that bloc for a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the situation resulting from the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse.
The also Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda expressed his dismay over this event and described the attack, which was perpetrated in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital, on Wednesday, as regrettable.
Moïse’s death was confirmed by acting Prime Minister Claude Joseph, and he was assassinated in the early hours of Wednesday when a commando of armed men stormed the residence of the head of State.
Two days ago, a CARICOM summit had analyzed the crisis in that country, which is a member of the bloc, and urged to work to find a solution to the Haitian situation.
At that time, Browne described the crisis in Haiti as unsustainable and warned about the growing violence that has killed many people and displaced thousands of those who flee the current insecurity in the country.
