Peruvian President asks to win with humility and lose with nobility

(Prensa Latina) President Francisco Sagasti reflected the eve on the sporting virtue of knowing how to lose and win, while the candidate Keiko Fujimori insisted on refusing to accept her defeat against the virtual president-elect of Peru, Pedro Castillo.

Without mentioning the case of Fujimori, the president spoke when flagging the delegation of his country that will compete in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and said that ‘no athlete questions the rules of sport, after losing in the competition in which they have participated’.

‘Sport teaches us to win with humility and to lose with nobility, to win with pride and to lose without rancor, that is a lesson that all Peruvians must bear in mind’, he added at the ceremony held in front of the government palace.

‘Take in your strength, not only physical and spiritual, the courage and encouragement of the Peruvians who will accompany you from a distance, following each of the things that you will do in Tokyo. Peru is up’, he added.

Fujimori took she was alluded to and in a speech, before dozens of followers in the popular neighborhood of Villa María del Triunfo, said in response to the president that his request to review the results of the ballot ‘is to request that he act as the soccer referee, who sees the video of a doubtful play, before making a decision’.

However, the National Elections Jury, according to its rules, does not investigate, but rather judges the claims and their grounds, and in this case, like all the electoral courts of first instance, ruled there is no evidence of the irregularities alleged by Fujimori and her lawyers.
