Russia demands US be sanctioned for crimes in Yugoslavia and Iraq

(Prensa Latina) The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, today demanded that the United States be sanctioned for the crimes committed in Yugoslavia and Iraq and for the millions of dead and mutilated throughout the planet.

‘Since when does the US live by respecting the laws? Its conduct in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is pure arbitrariness’, the spokeswomanq wrote on her Telegram profile.

Zajarova noted that after sanctions are imposed ‘for what they did in Yugoslavia and Iraq, for the millions killed and maimed,’ is that the United States will then be able to pronounce the word law.

On Sunday, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that the Geneva summit between U.S. President Joseph Biden and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin did not bring about ‘any change’ in Washington’s sanctions policy against Moscow.

According to Psaki the ‘law requires’ that the United States continue to contemplate new restrictions against Russia related to the use of chemical weapons.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced that his government is preparing new sanctions in the case of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, imprisoned in this country for violating national laws, and against Russian companies building the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Regarding the possible measures, the Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoli Antonov, said it is sad that Washington follows a path that does not lead to any positive result, according to Sputnik news agency.
