Protests expected in Brazil in demand of Bolsonaro’s destitution

(Prensa Latina) The Fora Bolsonaro Front set July 3 as a new date of protests throughout Brazil to demand the destitution of President Jair Bolsonaro, sources close to the campaign announced on Monday.
The timetable also includes mobilizations during the handing in of the request of Bolsonaro’s impeachment at the Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday.

‘The struggle of the masses is the decisive element in opening the process of Bolsonaro’s impeachment. We want to use the rally on July 3 to send a message to the President of the (Lower) Chamber, Arthur Lira,’ said João Paulo Rodrigues, of the national coordination of the Landless Rural Workers Movement and Frente Brasil Popular.

The revelations last Friday at the commission of the Senate assessing the government’s management of the Covid-19 pandemic, with accusations of corruption linked to the purchase of India’s Covaxin vaccine, accelerated the process of mobilization for Bolsonaro’s destitution.

According to the website of Rede Brasil Atual, consensus was reached at a recent meeting of the Front on the new protest to take place next Saturday.

‘The new facts show more concrete elements in a case of corruption in Bolsonaro’s government and even reinforces its genocidal nature, because it was corruption with vaccines to save lives,’ as the president of the National Students’ Union, Iago Montalvão, told the Brasil de Fato website.
