Ecuador negotiated 14 million doses, until March of this year, and spent approximately 118 million

The Comptroller General of the State (CGE) presented a report on irregularities that it found in the vaccination process against Covid-19 in the country and revealed the cost that Ecuador negotiated with each pharmaceutical company to acquire vaccines.

According to the entity’s information, Ecuador paid USD 4 for each dose of AstraZeneca; USD 12 per dose of Pfizer and USD 10.55 per dose of COVAX.

In the contract that the country signed with the GAVI Alliance of COVAX, on September 18, 2020, the country paid USD 74,453,460 for 7,057,200 doses. This money was financed by the World Bank and seeks to provide poor countries with Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.

For the agreement with AstraZeneca, a contract was signed on October 29, 2020, for a total of USD 20’166,600 to buy 5’041,650 doses.

Ecuador also negotiated with the pharmaceutical company Pfizer the acquisition of 1,999,725 doses, on December 23, 2020, for a total of USD 23,996,700.
