Pregnant women over 35 with serious diseases will be vaccinated against Covid-19 in Ecuador

Pregnant women over 35 years of age and with comorbidities or serious illnesses, who are in their twelfth week of gestation, may receive the doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, this Tuesday, June 15, at a press conference offered to the media.

The Secretary of State indicated that the guidelines on vaccination for this sector of the population will be issued in the next few hours.

She explained that pregnant women who wish to be inoculated must request a certificate that guarantees that they have at least 12 weeks of gestation and, later, approach the immunization centers to be vaccinated.

Regarding pregnant women without serious diseases, the minister stressed that they will be immunized from week 20. In addition, she clarified that lactating mothers will not be considered as a priority group.
