Indigenous and peasant organizations of Ecuador peacefully protested in Latacunga to demand solutions to the economic measures of the previous government that harm Ecuadorians.
“It will not depend on the action of a leader who changes the country’s political actions, but it will depend on the decision of the Ecuadorian people and make us listen to the government of the day,” said Iza.
The organizations question the monthly increase in the price of fuels, the non-transfer of economic resources for community irrigation, budget cuts to sectional governments, among other reasons.
Iza recalled that “the violence does not come from us … the violence comes from the Government and the authorities who do not understand the people, let’s talk nice, with respect, and look at the path we are going as Ecuadorians.”
After submitting their petitions, the indigenous leaders announced that they will be attentive to the solutions that are delivered from the Government of Guillermo Lasso.
