COVID-19 cases decrease in Guayaquil; mortality remains

In Guayaquil, confirmed cases of COVID-19, with PCR tests, were reduced in the week that passed. From 800 positives it dropped to almost 600 in the last seven days. This was reported by the municipal health authorities.

Carlos Salvador, Director of Health of the Municipality of Guayaquil, reported that there is a decrease in confirmed cases and mentioned that they are, in the week of May 31 to June 6, among the 600 weekly cases. While mortality remains in 10 daily deaths that were confirmed to carry the virus.

Until Sunday, June 6, Guayaquil registered 38,984 infected, of the 58,310 reported by Guayas. In addition, the positivity of contagion in this province is 28%, which represents one percentage point less, than that registered the previous week.

Regarding the vaccination process, he said that about 110 thousand people from Guayaquil have been inoculated in the Municipal Centers.

In addition, he said that this past week they had around 18,000 people from Guayaquil vaccinated, which is a record in the city.
