The Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, indicated that the Government is about to close a deal for the acquisition of six million doses of the Chinese CanSino vaccine. In the next few days, the budget allocation would be made and several details of the purchase would be closed, so that the vaccines arrive in Ecuador in the months of July and August.

The Chinese CanSino vaccine is developed to be applied in a single dose and would arrive in the country in two batches, the first of 3 million in July and the second, of the same quantity, in August, according to Minister Garzón.

Given this, she said that they are also about to close an agreement with the Russian Government for the delivery of 2 million vaccines, one million in June and one million in July.

“We are negotiating with vaccines such as Johnson and Johnson and Sputnik V. We have asked for the Russian vaccine to deliver one million in June and one million in July.”
