ALBA-TCP to draw up media campaign against US blockade

(Prensa Latina) The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) will draw up a media strategy condemning the US blockade against Cuba, said Venezuela´s Communication Minister Freddy Ñáñez.

Speaking to Venezolana de Televisión, Freddy Ñáñez highlighted agreements reached on Monday at a special meeting of presidents of television stations and ALBA-TCP´s public media held via videoconference.

Regarding forthcoming vote at the UN on a resolution strongly rejecting the economic, commercial and financial US blockade against Cuba, Ñáñez said that all ALBA-TCP member countries will support on media outlets the call for ending all unilateral coercive measures.

Freddy Ñáñez also mentioned the creation of the so-called ALBA Digital, a platform aimed at tackling fake news, propaganda and hybrid warfare issues on social networks.

In this regard, Ñáñez stressed the significance of facing up defamation and stigmatization strategies against progressive peoples and processes.

During his speech at the meeting, ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary Sacha Llorenti called for strengthening a strategic unity in the area of a ‘revolutionary and moral trench of ideas.’

Llorenti highlighted the essential role of communication work to face up media hype attacks aimed at justifying aggressions against sovereign nations.
