Faced with the death of an Ecuadorian citizen in the border area with Peru, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the ambassador of that country to express its concern about this case.
The compatriot was wounded by a bullet by a member of the neighboring country’s army in a confusing incident. Reason why the Ecuadorian authorities requested explanations.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the incident occurred on May 26 in the town of Aguas Verdes and the victim would be Renzo Fabricio Aguilar Correa, 21 years old.
Through diplomatic channels, the Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassador who was asked to provide information about the investigative actions that are being carried out in Peru by the corresponding authorities, so that, based on justice, the pertinent sanctions are applied.
The mother of the deceased said that Aguilar had relatives on the Peruvian side, so she decided to cross to the neighboring country through an illegal passage and that motivated the military to detonate his weapon.
The family members transferred him to the Huaquillas hospital, but given the seriousness of his injuries to his legs, he was transferred to a health home in Machala, where he died.
Meanwhile, the military man involved in this case would have fled, at first, but later turned himself in to the authorities.
Aguilar’s relatives presented the complaint to the judicial authorities of both countries.
