(Prensa Latina) Colombian human rights organizations on Friday called for citizens to discuss the current situation in the country in order to present joint proposals.
The meeting will take place on Saturday, in the vicinity of the Portal de las Americas, in Bogota, renamed Portal de la Resistencia (Portal of Resistance) because it is a place where demonstrators have been sheltered from police repression.
The conveners of the meeting plan to hold a popular assembly, at which they will analyze the path to go in view of the violence by public forces against demonstrations in Colombia since April 28, with a death toll of over 40, dozens of wounded and missing persons, among other excesses by public forces.
They will also analyze actions to continue the social fight against the Ivan Duque Government.
Meanwhile, the National Strike Committee expects to agree on the necessary points with a governmental representation, such as the guarantee to peaceful protest, in order to move towards dialogue and solve the crisis in the nation.
