Venezuelan president ratifies call to follow electoral route

(Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Thursday reiterated the call on all political sectors of the country to transit through the electoral route, as the only way to settle differences and guarantee national peace. On his Twitter account, Maduro recalled the triumph of the revolutionary forces in the presidential elections on May 20, 2018.

‘Three years after the popular victory on May 20, we evoke the democratic and pacifist spirit of the Venezuelan people. Today more than ever, we are called to walk the electoral path, as the only possible way to recover the Homeland of security and social justice,’ the head of State said.

In recent statements, Maduro welcomed the decision adopted by the National Electoral Council (CNE) to call for joint elections this year for governors and mayors, as well as for regional and municipal legislative bodies.

The president underscored that the renewal of the CNE by the National Assembly (Parliament) was the result of a great agreement resulting from negotiations between the Executive and the opposition parties.

Likewise, Maduro called upon the most radical sectors of the opposition to abandon the path of coups and interventionism, regarding new approaches for dialogue with these political factions, and urged them to participate in the elections on November 21.

The president added that the revolutionary forces will choose the best candidates to ensure victory in the upcoming elections for governorships, mayorships and regional and municipal legislative bodies.
