Ecuador’s National Assembly to swear in new Andean MPs

(Prensa Latina) The National Assembly of Ecuador has swore in on Wednesday the five Andean MPs elected for the 2021-2025 term in the general election held in February, 2021.

The swearing in ceremony took place at the Legislative Palace before the members of the legislative house.

Ecuador’s Andean Parliament representatives are Veronica Arias and Virgilio Hernandez, from the Union por la Esperanza (Union for Hope) coalition; Mirian Cisneros, representative of Pachakutik; Paul Desamblanc, from Izquierda Democratica (Democratic Left); and Cristina Reyes, from the Social Christian Party.

The five officials may be reelected for a new term in the next election in 2025.

The Andean Parliament is the supranational and democratic body of the Andean Community that promotes civic participation, the strengthening integration and of the shared identity and culture.

Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru are member States of this institution.
