(Prensa Latina) Chilean President Sebastián Piñera on Monday announced his government will provide a ‘new and reinforced’ Emergency Family Income (IFE) to help citizens face the Covid-19 pandemic.
Piñera said IFE, amounting to USD 100,000 Chilean pesos (about USD140) for each family member, will be granted in April, May and June.
This relief will cover 80% of those registered in the Social Household Registry, which includes some 13 million families in precarious situation.
The Chilean president assured that IFE will be delivered with no requirements, unlike other financial reliefs that have been highly criticized due to requirements imposed by authorities.
