Ecuador condemns child trafficking on US-Mexico border

(Prensa Latina) Ecuador on Thursday strongly condemned an act of human trafficking that led to illegal trafficking of two Ecuadorean minors on the US-Mexico border.

According to local media reports, the two sisters, 3 and 5 years, were illegally taken by coyoteros (people who help illegal immigrants enter the States) to the United States.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility claimed that through the consular office in Houston (Texas) it provides the necessary assistance in order to protect minors´ well-being who for the time being are out of danger and assisted.

‘Foreign Ministry condemns and rejects such an inhuman and irrational action of those who commit crimes by illegally trafficking migrants, and urges families and parents to avoid exposing themselves or their children to the dangers that irregular migration entails.’
