(Prensa Latina) Paraguay authorized the purchase of 10 scanners to control the containers entering or leaving the country and to crack down on drug trafficking, Julio Fernández, National Customs director, reported.
After meeting with President Mario Abdo Benítez, Fernández said the government will manage economic resources amounting to USD30 million to purchase these 10 scanners.
Fernández also stated that Paraguay is managing as many as 100,000 containers annually, hence the importance of counting on such a high-tech scanners for greater control.
