(Prensa Latina) Six presidential candidates, two candidates for vice presidency and 134 candidates for parliamentary seat are being probed for alleged corruption crime and some tried, a journalistic investigation revealed.
Gustavo Mohme Llona Foundation´s report specified that among the presidential contenders, neoliberal Keiko Fujimori is also being accused, for whom the Prosecutor’s Office is sentencing her to 20 years and 10 months behind bars for bribery, money laundering and other charges.
Former Nationalist President Ollanta Humala was also subpoenaed, who has been indicted for secretly receiving funds for electoral purposes.
Right-wing presidential contenders Daniel Salaverry, Alberto Beingolea and Rafael Santos and Ciro Gálvez are also being probed on a great number of corruption charges.
According to a recent law, congressmen who had committed crimes before being elected will not have immunity at all and will be also brought to justice if they are required for trial and will stop serving as lawmakers if convicted.
