Bolivia calls for equal access to coronavirus vaccines

(Prensa Latina) Bolivian government on Tuesday reiterated its call for equal access to Covid-19 vaccines and medical supplies, after receiving second batch of the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine doses.

Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Rogelio Mayta claimed that 60 countries have not received yet one single dose, while the world´s seven richest nations ‘have hoarded half of the vaccines manufactured so far to immunize their people up to five times’.

Mayta revealed that 455 million vaccine doses have been applied to date and, of that number, 56% in high-income countries that do not represent even 16% of the world’s population. ‘

He pointed out that the world´s 19 countries with lowest economic incomes only have 0.1% of vaccine doses.

Likewise, Mayta thanked Chinese Ambassador to Venezuela Huang Yazhong for his efforts to access the vaccines, including 100,000 donations.
