The income of Guillermo Lasso, candidate for the Presidency for CREO, was USD 6.4 million in 2020, USD 2 million more than in 2019.
This is revealed by a publication of Página 12, in which, in addition, it mentions that Lasso not only increased his assets by millions, but that, in addition, it was and continues to be part of the design of the policies of the government of the current Government of Lenín Moreno, although he constantly tries to get away from the questioned morenista period.
The media indicates that Lasso’s closeness to Moreno is in the attempt to privatize the Central Bank of Ecuador (BCE) promoted by Moreno through the so-called Law for the Defense of Dollarization, a project that seeks to empower the ECB from the executive power, and put it in the hands of private sectors, an attempt that comes from the 90s.
In addition, the article analyzes Lasso’s campaign against his opponent, Andrés Arauz, from UNES, and says:
“The objective of the media operation is to build a candidate with a different project than the one he is leading, and, in turn, erase both his past and his present. Regarding the first, he seeks to present himself as innocent in the main crisis that the country experienced, in 1999, known as the bank holiday “
