Ecuador registers 496 new infections and 26 more deaths in the last 24 hours. This March 9, 2021, the country has a total of 295.114 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 16.069 deaths due to the pandemic.
In the latest report from the Ministry of Health, 11.285 people died with a positive diagnosis and 4.784 more dead with suspicion of carrying the respiratory virus.
Hospital occupancy has been high for more than two weeks. Intensive Care Units (ICU) work to the limit. This Tuesday, there are 830 stable hospitalized and 529 with a reserved prognosis. In total, there are 1.359 interned in one day. While another 75 more people were discharged from hospital.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has 256.009 recovered patients, representing 86.93% of all infections. In the last week, 8.111 more people overcame the disease.
Pichincha registers 254 new infections and nine more deaths in the last 24 hours. The province reaches 102.595 diagnosed with the virus and 2.673 deaths. Quito adds 244 more infected and the total number of cases in the Ecuadorian capital rises to 94.768.
